Black History Month in North West Wales

Back in 2007 Jamaican Dub Poet, Yasus Afari started exploring Wales along with Liz Millman, and discovered that there was no response to Black History Month in North Wales. Check www.bhmnw.com for the story of the activities that LLI has organised since then working with a range of local organisationas.

However 10 years on, by 2017, agreement has been reached that Race Council Cymru is best placed to lead BHM for Wales and currently applications are being considered by funders to put a support structure in place.

Iolanda Buna Viegas has taken on the role of as Co-ordinator for BHM activities in North Wales, with a focus on Wrexham, while Marian Gwyn, with support from the North Wales Jamaica Society, Capoeira Mochambo and Learning Links International, has agreed to oversee the co-ordination of a programme of activities in BHM in North West Wales.

Please see www.bhmnw.com for this years programme of activities planned in North Wales, and check out Race Council Cymru's website for Waleswide activities.

NB This site is managed by Learning Links International as an archive and a working tool to update the programme of activities.
